    I’m excited to announce that 5 of my papers and 2 grant proposals have been rejected this month. Looking forward to throwing them in the garbage and crying and then getting them back from the garbage and cleaning them and resubmitting them. Exciting times ahead!! 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣

    this paper quantiatively shows what someone told me: "everyone loves interdisciplinary but no one will give u a job if you are interdisciplinary" Hiring at top universities rewards disciplinary loyalty over interdisciplinary breadth. Things are changing. arxiv.org/abs/2503.21912

    🚨New paper on hate speech on WhatsApp @TheWebConf !!🚨 We studied the prevalence of hate speech in the millions of WhatsApp messages we collected during the Indian elections in 2019. We find that most hate is not explicit but in terms of fear! Thread 👇 1/n

    I have a PhD now!! Here's my thesis titled 'Polarization on Social Media' users.ics.aalto.fi/kiran/content/… We try to understand polarization on social media -- develop algorithms to identify, track polarized topics over time, and finally design techniques to help reduce polarization.
