I played JV as JR in HS. 17yo HS grad. JUCO was the best decision of my life. Starting SS in Omaha 5 years later. Played pro ball for 11 years. Area Scout for 7. If you love the game it doesn't matter the level. Keep your head down and continue to work to get better.

Being an ex-JUCO guy, I love it when I go to a college game and see a roster full of guys that were all the hype in HS. Then the game starts and the starting lineup is littered with JUCO guys with a built in chip on their shoulder. It's not where you start but where you finish!

1st year Michigan HC Juwan Howard and long time St. Joe's HC Phil Martelli as his top assistant. See many coaches wanting to be surrounded by "yes" men and won't humble themselves to make a hire like this. 19 year NBA career, 2 time NBA Champ, Michigan HOF'er. Experience plays!

If you have infielders who constantly get stuck or have dead feet. This might help. There is a little piece on rhythm and how to maintain it through the catch. #ShortstopU

**Reading hops** Being able to control your small steps is important when selecting the correct hop. Some amateurs struggle with this causing poor timing, poor alignment and running yourself into tough hops. Good infielders are able to play at different speeds when needed.

Not making an excuse for Volpe on this play. But not enough credit given to Kike Hernandez for shrinking the throwing lane. You can see his margin for error diminishing as the play develops. Perfect example of pressuring the defense, forcing them to make plays to beat you.

Versatility is so important on the baseball field. You're doing yourself a disservice saying you only play SS, 3B etc. SS/2B w/plus run tool should be able to play CF. Corner INF's should be comfortable in LF/RF. Catchers should have comfort at 1B/3B. Find a way onto the card!

Baseball players of all ages. Be a great teammate! 20 years from now, no one will remember or care about what kind of player you were. They will however remember how you treated them and how you went about your business. I promise you that if you invest in something bigger

Twitter is the only place where a 14U travel ball coach is comfortable enough to get into it with an ex-big league catcher about what pitches can and can't be blocked. What are we doing here???

A friend of mine is staying in the same road hotel as a Cubs minor league affiliate. They have a traveling weight room. Full team lift in the parking lot of the hotel. Pullout squat racks, dumbells, bench, etc. Minor league life sure has changed. No excuses not to get better!

Some video from yesterday's infield clinic in San Diego. Great dialog with some great coaches. Always fun talking infield play/finding new ways to help players achieve their dreams. Also, got hang out with some old friends at the AC Underclass games. San Diego never disappoints.

One of my teammates in A-ball showed me how they use to make gloves out of cardboard back in the DR. I made one a few years ago and just found it in my garage. If you can catch the ball with this, you can catch the ball with anything.

I just spoke to a group of 13U players. I asked them if they played 4 years of college baseball until the age of 22. Would that be considered a good baseball career? They all said no. To me, thats a great baseball career. Whats up with these crazy expectations??? The gist of

20 years ago, I was the only SS in Omaha not to be taken in the MLB draft. Best believe I know the names of the 7. Players find that chip inside of you that allows you squeeze out every ounce of ability you've been blessed with. Guys signing as FA's, make them remember you!
