    Sad News and reporting because I know a lot of you here followed "The Daily Lovebird " before it was moved elsewhere. Maxine 🦅 passed away on 16 February, 2025 after a short 1 month battle with cancer. My thx to all who enjoyed her virtual visits here.

    I can't disagree more. The US needs its own independent heavy lift vehicle independent of any single company wanting to have a stranglehold on civilian space activities. We can't throw all the eggs in a single basket.

    SLS looks pretty but cancel it after Artemis III, go all in on Starship. SLS 1B, exploration upper stage, the additional mobile launch tower are behind and way over budget. SpaceX can handle Artemis with an entirely starship architecture.

    Given to me by .@markratterman: a reminder that in 1981, Santa was given the OK by @NASA to use the Shuttle Landing Facility in the event his sleigh had to make an emergency landing. I would imagine that a similar arrangement with @SpaceFlorida is now in place. #ChristmasEve 🎄

    For added context, 1) they are not stuck, they were NEVER stuck, (a narrative in really getting sick of.) 2)The reason why they are delayed is that the #SpaceX Crew 10 Spacecraft ( a new vehicle ) needs more time to be prepared for its 1st launch.

    A Model Rocket enthusiast, Jamie Claye, put this together. It's an unproved Lunar/Mars lander design based on an Estes model rocket kit from 1969 but this version uses the #SpaceX #CrewDragon as a baseline lander with the crew capsule as the ascent stage -prusaprinters.org/prints/84660-s…

    A thought: 🧵 Polaris Dawn scrubbed yesterday due to a helium leak in a ground support apparatus. No harm no foul, and you want to make sure all is ready to support the launch attempt. ' Team Space,' on this platform seems to understand that. 1/

    This is the damage caused to a block of solid aluminum by a tiny speck of space debris traveling at 15,000 mph. This five inch crater was caused by something weighing a mere 1.2 oz. and about the size of a pencil eraser.

    PS- We've flown hip and bone prosteitics before the #Inspiration4 mission but we're not in the habit of calling that out. Didn't want to take away from Hailey's time and change that narrative. Didn't want to come in and "rain on their day."
