I don't know who needs to hear this, but a "mild covid infection" that results in chronic, lifelong disability is not—and will never be—a mild covid infection.

The man's name is Josef Tesar. Bigots don't get to remain anonymous.
The man, who allegedly yelled at the child, said she was a boy and called her mother a groomer and pedophile, will be banned from any school property or event. #Kelowna kelownanow.com/watercooler/ne…

Here's how Karl Lauterbach, Germany's Federal Health Minister, defended his decision to mandate masks in schools. It's quite simple: We don't know the long-term damage to kids from a single covid infection let alone repeated infections, but what we do know isn't encouraging.

From a non-Twitter friend: "Please understand that 'living with the virus' in Canada means a permanent and significant drop in life expectancy—we are effectively no longer able to either diagnose or treat cancer, heart disease, or any of the other ailments which bedevil mankind.

Dr. Bonnie Henry just now: "If you've had covid recently, you've had a boost to your immunity. So that's a good thing." No, Dr. Henry, getting covid is NEVER a good thing. It won't help or improve your immune system. Your immune system isn't a muscle, and covid isn't the flu.

My 8yo told me this morning that he's worried about "covid stuff." I said it sucks that people aren't taking it more seriously, but that we'll keep protecting ourselves as best we can. "Yes, but other people not taking it seriously makes it harder for us to protect ourselves."😢

I'll never get over the fact that we're disabling a generation for nothing but the vibes, basically.

Dr. Bonnie Henry on 2023/01/13: "Wearing masks is not going to make a tremendous difference in the transmission of these viruses." Public health has lost the plot.

I booked an in-person appointment with my GP—the office still has phone appointments only—and asked the scheduler why, since health officials say we should get back to normal, they still had strict protocols in place? She said: "Because we would rather not die of COVID." Quite.

CDC Take 1: "Take off your masks it's NBD honestly." CDC Take 2: "You're fucked forever oops."
New @CDCMMWR: Approximately 1 in 5 adults ages 18+ experience a new condition a month or more after surviving #COVID19. More: bit.ly/MMWR7121.

We have engineering standards to prevent buildings from crumbling in an earthquake that might happen in 30 years or 300, but aren't willing to implement engineering standards for indoor air quality even as our healthcare systems crumble RIGHT NOW. Why?

Confess your unpopular opinion: I don't think individuals should be allowed to opt out of wearing masks in indoor public spaces. I don't think individuals should be allowed to unilaterally dictate my level of risk.

Dr. Henry just told us that the increased transmissibility of the new variant is "good news" because it will lead to increased cases "and compete with other viruses, other strains, other such variants as well." This is staggeringly wrong.
