    I am elated to share that this morning the Wake County CEC members of SD 17 voted for me to fill @ElectSamSearcy’s vacant seat. After I am appointed by @NC_Governor, I will be sworn in this week. I can’t wait to get to work serving the constituents of SD 17 & our great state.

    Today, just 48 hrs after the GOP filed their abortion ban @NCSenateDems had the longest debate the Senate has had about a bill in over a decade in support of freedom for NC’s women. Republicans ignored state law, broke Senate rules, and silenced our citizens to pass their bill.

    Today I am 2 years in remission with my battle with #breastcancer. I had insurance and great doctors. Early detection and trx saved my life but 500K hard-working NCians don't have access to #healthcare. We must #ExpandMedicaid. Everyone deserves to see a doctor if they are sick.

    I want to thank everyone that voted for me and all who volunteered for me over the last year. Thank you for putting your faith in me. I look forward to serving my constituents in the NC Senate this upcoming term. There is a lot of work to be done and I am ready to get started.

    I normally sew quilts to relax, but I'm glad to be able to sew face masks for our frontline child welfare social workers in Wake County so they can remain safe while helping the most vulnerable in our communities. We owe all frontline workers our undying gratitude. #grateful

    Last August I announced I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I’ve been open about my health, which is why I would like to share that I will be taking a short leave for continuing medical treatment. I expect a positive outcome, and will return soon.Thank you for your support.
