i've come to a BIG realization: i just got back from 2 weeks in spain 🇪🇸 (my favorite EU country so far). and although i enjoyed the trip, i've recognized that i cannot live permanently in the EU 🇪🇺 why? everything operates by the book, every rule followed and obeyed to a T

every day i read about the paraguayan residency program, the more it seems like a no-brainer • no physical presence required • no tax on foreign-sourced income temporary residency for 2 years → permanent residency for 3 → citizenship smells like freedom to me

ehh not really they were protesting sexual exploitation by gross s3xpats and a small crowd spilled over to yell at some foreigners in a cafe but either way, i think things will get more dangerous for your average nomad/expat in medellín because of this

hot take: north america is just as corrupt as latin america the key difference though is that ... in latin america, corruption is visible and obvious — laundering and bribery in 🇺🇸/🇨🇦, corruption is hidden behind closed doors — lobbying and interest groups am i wrong?

It's very safe, there's limited corruption, and you can make good money and get a pretty solid education/career foundation (which is key to eventually going remote if you want that).

this guy lives rent-free in my head... in a tiny surfing village in panamá 🇵🇦 last year, i met an israeli guy in his mid 30s who grew up in los angeles he ran a surf shop in venice, california before moving his wife and two young boys to this remote beach town (population: ~50)
