    You will remember the coaches that really cared about you, demanded your best, refused to let you be average: you won’t remember the coach that let you do anything, held you to zero standards & let you abdicate responsibility. A coach that makes you earn it prepares you for life.

    Being a good teammate is very hard. Someone might play the minutes you think you deserve. Play in the spot you think you should be playing in. Being all about the team when you aren’t getting what you want or think you deserve: that’s a real character test. Team 1st mentality.

    My proudest moment as the coach at Jackson State University is today. A big non conference win against a really good team. Players gave everything and honored the JSU jersey and I love them SO much for what they are giving the program!!! A big thank you to our coaching staff!

    As a coach I’m going to get it wrong sometimes: the wrong recruit, wrong lineup, wrong activity for that training session, wrong thing to say to a player that needed to hear something different. I can’t run from those mistakes. I own them. I’m asking our players to do the same.

    We started 0-10 and finished the regular season 7-11. And secured a spot in the postseason. When people need a definition of resilience, I say “see our roster”. I haven’t publicly praised our team enough this season. I won’t miss this chance. They’ve got huge hearts. JSU PRIDE.

    If they don’t travel, complaint. Travel but don’t play, complaint. Travel & play but not play enough, complaint. Travel & play but not start, complaint. Travel, play & start but not play whole game, complaint. Team wins but not play, complaint. Coaching is a brutal profession.

    Imagine becoming a collegiate athlete, getting to train everyday, having your own strength coach, the cafeteria to provide your meals. Imagine someone doing your training laundry, traveling to play. Then imagine complaining about any of it: Complaining about your “PASSION”!…

    My third daughter has been born today! Please hit me up in a few years and the trio will be prepared to take on anyone in a 3 v 3 tournament! This morning father of 2, tonight father of 3, that’s how fast life moves. Enjoy the moments of your life!!!

    The kid that hates when training or anything team related is cancelled. I want to coach that kid everyday for the rest of my life.

    Every college athlete powering through AM lifts, non-nutritional cafeteria options, study hall while fatigued, training, traveling, classes, video, meetings-all of it. Marvel should make a movie about you all, because you are the real superheroes. Props.

    There’s incredible and then there’s incredible. Through to the semis after THIRTEEN rounds of penalty kicks. Epic match, the likes I’ve never seen before. JSU Women’s Soccer: fully committed. No matter how the tournament ends I’ll remember this match forever. High drama.

    Instead of bad mouthing your coaches, teammates & anyone else you want to blame for the work you didn’t do, minutes you didn’t get, why not channel that energy into further developing your own game? It will be much more productive and yield way better results. Action = solution.

    Don’t want players that CAN run, want players that WANT 2 run. Not players that can be good with the ball, players that WANT the ball with pressure on. Don’t want players that COULD have a good attitude, when I can just have players with good attitudes. Not just play, WANT 2 play
