Built on the surge stack from @nethermind, based on open-source code by @taikoxyz. A 1% base fee goes to the Taiko DAO until 2030 (or until all fees are burned, whichever comes later). Open infra, open collaboration.

Why now? Most L2s today are acting more like new L1s than an Ethereum scaling solution. Private allocations, opaque governance, centralized control. Ethereum deserves a public, decentralized alternative.
