- Reminder that pitchers are athletes too! (Also no they aren’t, I sprained my ankle on the landing)
00:00 - Beyond thankful for a year of personal and professional growth with the @Phillies. I cannot say enough about how special that organization is through and through Looking forward to working with some familiar faces as I join the @Reds! Time to do it our way. #BornToBasball
- Adding a "spike" to a curveball grip can be a great way to shift the axis and create more top/down spin. Notice the arm unwinding nearly identical between both left/right, but the spike allowing middle finger to pull down and keeping the ball from rolling off the index
00:00 - "Hold on let me try a splitter, what if we find out it's nasty?" -@Lorenzen55 Well, we found out it's nasty...
00:00 - "Good" vs "Bad" curveball. Top down vs more gyro. More vs less spin contributing to movement. Same standard pitch classification, completely different movement profile/action
00:00 - The new @WakeBaseball player development center is BANANAS! Pitching lab fitted with Motion capture, TrackMan, Rapsodo, synced camera feed, etc. Adapt or die!
- “It’s pretty cool. Yeah, 10 years of hard work and studying and time. A lot of really bad games, a lot of tough learning experiences” Spent almost everyday of the ‘18-‘19 offseason w TB developing a Changeup... his worst pitch in ‘19 & thrown just 3 times during his Cy campaign
- Beyond excited to join the @Phillies organization! Thank you to all that have helped me along the way. #RingTheBell #S2SPhillies have mined @DrivelineBB for another player-development hire. Eric Jagers will be a pitching strategist based in Florida who works with young arms on pitch design. Interesting.
- Here's a cool function I've been using a lot recently with DrivelineEDGE: Overlaying ball visualizations on top of high-speed footage as a means of fixing seam orientation. This has trimmed the learning curve tremendously in terms of picking up spin axis on video #ForThePeople
00:00 - Believe it! Week one is in the books Truly a surreal feeling seeing these jerseys hang side by side. #BornToBaseball
- Fastball at your head? Nope sorry that's a slider for a strike meat.
00:00 - 2800+RPM (79 mph) curveball @ 1000FPS. Notice the pinch/snap of the fingers at release. My observations of high spin breaking balls indicate those who spin the ball well seem to apply tons of pressure to the ball. But many think or have been told a tight grip is a bad thing...
00:00 - Side by side: well executed cutter vs inadvertent slider. A slight shift of the axis significantly impacts movement. Creating a plan and knowing what you want to do is the "easy part" of pitch design. Getting a pitch to be consistently successful in a game setting is not.
