Random internet manager here πŸ‘‹πŸ½ I have so many thoughts here and if you don’t know me, I’m known for building psychologically safe and efficient teams. Some of my favorite compliments I’ve received about my management are: 1- β€œyour team would run through brick walls for you”. 2-
Most managers already know how to run great 1:1s. They choose not to because their org punishes them for it. Every experienced manager has heard the advice. Let your reports own the agenda. Focus on their growth. Coach instead of direct. They learned it in their first leadership

I still can’t get over the fact that my Engineering Director is a Black woman. This is the first time I’ve worked at a company that has someone that looks like me in a role I dream of filling one day & it’s lit an even bigger fire up under my ass. Representation matters πŸ’œ

I love the fact that this man removed himself from the candidate pool b/c of too many interviews. While interviewing, I've been shocked by how many interviews each company wants, & I fear this has become the norm. I'm not positive more interviews always equals better candidates.

Lets normalize bombing an interview. Bombing an interview isn't the desired outcome, but it happens. And when it does happen, it can feel beyond isolating. Tell me about a time you straight up bombed an interview. Bonus points if you bombed it when you were more senior πŸ˜‚

It just hit me. By leaning into salary transparency, a supportive network, and research, I have damn near tripled my yearly income in a matter of 4 years.

I’m an incredibly hard worker, but try to micromanage me, and I will quickly morph into a slouch right before your very eyes.

Last month I hired a financial advisor, but I always felt he was condescending when giving me advice. So this morning I let him know I’d prefer to not continue our financial journey together. His response let me know I made the right decision in firing him. πŸ˜‚
