    We’ve only ever seen NBA players boycott a game ONCE. It was an exhibition game in 1961 and Bill Russell with a handful of other Celtics sat out in protest of racial injustice.. the fact we are still doing this 50 years later for the SAME THING should be incredibly telling.

    After my boyfriend killed him self I listened to ppl call me strong for putting on a happy face and “sucking it up” while knowing I’d drive over bridges and talk myself out of driving off them. Asking for help saved my life- and @dak ‘s openness could save someone else’s! 🙏🏽

    This is my grandpa Col. Hubert L. Jones, Who as a Tuskegee Airmen fought in Korea and returned to Alabama where he wouldn’t be served at the front of diners in full uniform. Despite that he taught and mentored the next gen of Airmen at the Tuskegee Institute to serve a country

    Sad to have to even say this but Bubba remains a victim in this. He didn’t find, report or announce the news of noose. NASCAR did. And if you’re delighting in this because it WASN’T a hate crime.. think about what that says about you. Relief is the proper response not smugness

    Just thinking about all the black folks today who are gonna go grocery shopping, to church, to a restaurant.. and map an exit strategy for how to get out of there— just in case. This is called trauma. Born of racism. And it’s terrifying. And no twitter condolences will 🛑 it.

    I would just like to say my Grandfather — the Colonel— a Tuskegee Airmen—fought for his country too. And when he came home nobody cared about his rank when it was time to get a meal at the counter!
