Whenever I post anything about the cops, my replies are constantly filled with people who are like "NOT ALL COPS." So l tried to put together a cogent analogy to help them understand why it IS ALL COPS. 🧵/x

Lori Laughlin was just sentenced to 2 months in jail. Earlier this year, the Manhattan DA recommended one year jail for a man who stole cough syrup and toothpaste from a Duane Reade. There are two systems of justice in this county and this is yet another example.

Kyle Rittenhouse, accused of murder, has been released on $2M cash bail. As a public defender, I represented teenagers unable to post $500-$5000 cash bail for things like theft or drug sale. Money bail doesn’t make us safer. It just rewards the wealthy and well-connected.

A friendly reminder from your future Manhattan DA: Presidents can’t pardon themselves for New York State crimes.

Roger Stone was just sentenced to 3 years and 4 months in prison. A man I represented is currently serving a sentence of 3-6 years in prison for stealing a jacket.

Riley Williams, accused of stealing Pelosi's laptop, was given permission to leave house arrest to attend a Renaissance fair. As a public defender, I represented a teenager who wasn't given permission to leave jail to go to his dad's funeral. Two. Systems. Of. Justice.

This is serious. Happened today in Manhattan. As a public defender for over a decade, I have tried cases where the Manhattan DA uses a "hysterical 911 call" as categorical evidence of guilt. Usually there's no video like this to refute it. (1/4)

Capitol riot suspect Eric Munchel, dubbed "zip tie guy," to be released from jail pending trial. As a public defender, I represented a client charged with stealing detergent. Held in on $3000 bail he could not afford. Two. Systems. Of. Justice.

Just so we’re clear, this is a crime.

Piece of advice from your friendly public defender: do not get in this truck. Period.
Behold the NYPDs brand new Game Truck, coming soon to a block near you. Bunch of video game consoles inside.

Riley June Williams is accused of stealing Pelosi's laptop in the US Capitol attack to sell to Russia and was released from custody. As a public defender, I represented a man held in on bail for stealing cough syrup and toothpaste from Duane Reade. Two. Systems. Of. Justice.
