I think about how many women refuse to go to an ob/gyn or get a mammogram because they feel ashamed and embarrassed. Imagine seeing this to reinforce their fears. So sad.
Why have we normalized teachers putting up wish lists and donor’s choose? No other profession has to beg to get the items they need to do their job in the best manner possible. Though the intentions are amazing, I’m not sure this is where we need to be…
May we all remember Principal Marburger and his ultimate sacrifice saving lives of his students. My ❤️ continues to break over the fact that school employees all of the US put their lives on the line everyday. Who would ever believe our incredible country could fall to such lows.
Not a Trump fan at all, but people need to remember Nelson Mandela spent decades in prison because his government said he was a criminal. This verdict is just as sorry.
Every one working in a public school district’s central office that is not clerical, should be required to sub 10 days in the district EVERY year, including the Superintendent, Chiefs, etc. and it should have to be at 10 different schools. The disconnect between what is happening
Maybe talk to your neighbors about voting differently in NY and NYC elections. It’s not like they didn’t tell you beforehand what you were voting for. YOU overwhelming choose to remain a sanctuary city. Now stop complaining and get out the vote.
I’m going to say it louder for the Principals in the back - there is no reason to do regular full faculty meetings during the year. No reason at all. Put it in an email. That simple.
To all the educators I’m seeing on Twitter doing all of these amazing things to get ready for next year - please make sure you stop long enough to recharge and reset. A great bulletin board or amazing exit ticket system will never make the same impact as a rested teacher.

There are zero school interventions that compensate for a lack of parent involvement. We just can’t do anything really well, on scale, for students whose parents won’t contribute to their education.
I just finished subbing 2 days in 6th grade math. The school was diverse, fairly rural, but working class and above, so you can’t blame poverty. The 6th graders could not do simple computations. They were clueless on long division and it was frankly scary. This is not a student
