I think he was the type of mortified where you just act like nothing happened, so after I told him he said he thought it came with the free blanket and I was like “absolutely, planes can be so confusing” bc we had 5 hours left. hope he has a nice trip!

Killers of the Flower Moon was incredible, as was the dog film festival shorts series that the Carolina Theatre accidentally put on instead of KOTFM — everyone was silent for ten min before the guy behind us spoke up and was like, “Is this the wrong movie?”

much as I understand the instinct to instinctively dunk on the NYT's Southern coverage, this is an attentive feature on an attentive book by a Southern photojournalist on the food that local (not corporate) gas stations make and sell. Kate is the best in the biz : )

who can swoop in to save Linda's and thus the spirit of UNC and thus Chapel Hill and thus the great state of North Carolina
BREAKING: Linda's Bar and Grill will permanently close on Friday, Jan. 5, after 47 years of business. Christopher Carini, who purchased Linda's in 2011, said the restaurant is shuttering due to "a slew of things" that began with the COVID-19 pandemic. bit.ly/41G1Evb

New for @indyweek: Yesterday Raleigh Starbucks worker Sharon Gilman, one of the 7 employees to put her name on a letter of union intent, was fired for "intentional misuse of company property." (A sink fell off the wall while she was washing dishes.)
