Stanford'dan doktora için kabul aldığımda Türkiye gündemine oturmamıştım. Bu tweet sayesinde 26 yaşımda baş örtülü olduğumu öğrendim, hayat çok garip.

I'm happy to announce I'll be joining @USC's Computer Science department as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2023. I'm thankful to my mentors and collaborators who have supported me all the way during my PhD :) I look forward to working with students and colleagues at @CSatUSC.

I will be taking PhD students at the computer science department of @USCViterbi for Fall 2023. The application deadline is December 15. My name is not on the department website (as I haven't moved there yet), but it is on the application website. So maybe spread the word, too :)

Paylaşımınız için teşekkür ederim. Benim gibi "başkası yaptıysa ben de yapabilirim" diye düşünen arkadaşlar için motive edici olur umarım :)

A paper I review is doing something similar to one of my papers and a concurrent paper. I mentioned those in the review and asked for a clarification on novelty. This is from the rebuttal: "We are sorry you misunderstood the method proposed by Bıyık et al." If only they knew...

My two papers got accepted at #RSS2020. One of them is now public: We develop an active preference elicitation method for Gaussian process regression and use it for reward learning to show how nonlinear rewards can be efficiently learned via comparisons: arxiv.org/abs/2005.02575

Bay Area Robotics Symposium is on Nov 20. It is free and open to public! Live stream will be on YouTube. If you are into robotics, this is the unique opportunity to hear about the great research being done at Berkeley, UCSC and Stanford, all in one event. bars2020.github.io

Time to update my profile with "Research Intern at @Google," yay! I will be working with Mohammad Ghavamzadeh, Yinlam Chow et al. on preference-based learning algorithms.

I finally got my passport! Only 22 hours before my flight 😐 Oh, it also has a UK visa in it...for the conference...which ended like 8 days ago 🥲 All I need to do is to invent a time machine now.
I sincerely hope no one ever needs a UK Visa. I contacted them on Nov 9 and told I don't need the visa anymore. I asked them to just send my passport back. Now they are telling me I may not receive my passport until Nov 24!? I have a flight back to my home country on Nov 20...

I have been working on active preference-based reward learning for three years. We decided it would be a good idea to create a Python library that allows to use these algorithms and experiment with new ones. Today, we release APReL for this. Repo: github.com/Stanford-ILIAD…

Histograma bakınca sayıların toplamı 100 ediyor gibi. Muhtemelen yüzde vermişler. En zenginlerin %20si üniversite mezunu, %5i yüksek lisans / doktora mezunu demek pek bir şey ifade etmiyor. (1/2)
