- I’m gutted. It’s surreal because I saw Low twice this year and watched Mimi up close—she was destroying everyone with her drums and voice, so full of life.
- I PASSED MY DOCTORAL EXAMS! TEARS OF JOY NO EDITS NEEDED. “TWO THUMBS UP”
- I still cannot believe that I saw Unwound twice and Codeine in the same week. My 17-year-old self can die happy now.
- My uncle killed himself yesterday. He was terminally ill; his endless struggles with addiction caused pain in my family-he also raised 4 kids who never stopped loving him. His life was meaningful, as every life is: nuanced moments of emotion and memory. I love and miss you Bruce.
- Angelo Badalamenti Is a forever influence, you can hear him in every twangy bassline and ominous pad. RIP to a creator of worlds, into the night.
- I recorded a pretty wild cover of Wait and Bleed by Slipknot for @TheFlenser ‘s nü metal comp. I slowed everything way down, programmed some Andy Stott worship drums and played all of the the guitar parts with an E-Bow.
- My little setup for teaching today, I’m doing a lecture on Lo-Fi recording techniques.
- I finished writing and recording Light Mirror around this time last year—it’s almost winter, the season it was made for.
- Feels like a dream to announce that I’ll be performing at Roadburn 2020 in the Netherlands. It’s an honor to be part of it alongside other @TheFlenser artists. I’m still in a grateful daze wrapping my head around how my home recordings are taking me to a place like this.
- Time to start working on a new record? I picked up this MX-5050 BII2 for $100 ( ! ) because CalArts was getting rid of a bunch of equipment.
- Cold Air was released 3 years ago today! It’s been about 4 years since it was recorded, although it genuinely feels like it came from another life, or at least a different self. This record marked a turning point for me; thanks to @TheFlenser for sending it into the world.
