We were literally at the rink when we recorded this episode of @TheRink. Recapping the Stanley Cup Final through four games, looking ahead, news and notes and all the goodies:
Bruins forward David Pastrnak on the four Maple Leafs winning the All-Star Game:
"Good for them. They needed some wins. They got one."
And then he smiled.
Kiss cam time and a guy takes off his shirt and written on his chest is "PLZ SAY YES YES YES." He gets down on one knee and proposes. Camera cuts away. But I could see them from the press box. The girl got up and left. She flat out left. And the Panthers scored. Can't make it up.
He's 37 years old and on his team are Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar, among so many other stars, and Sidney Crosby is still Canada's best player.
These guys are behind the Sabres net. They’re the Czech and Slovak Sabres Fan Club. Megaphone. Drum. Buffalo horns. Jerseys. Flags. They’ve got it all. And they’re chanting the whole time.
The Blues are the first team in NHL history to win the Stanley Cup after being last in the overall League standings with at least 30 games played. What a freaking run. Incredible.
Seth Jarvis has friends from Winnipeg in Raleigh for the playoffs. He said he's tried to take them to some good spots, but....
"We're not the most high-class people so sometimes when I bring them away from Wendy's or McDonald's they're a little bit out of their comfort zone."
Cake Makar with the line of the day as far as I care:
“They’re a team that’s looking to become a dynasty and we’re a team that’s looking to start a legacy.”
Igor Shesterkin on if he likes the back and forth when a player like Matthew Tkachuk tries to yap at him during the game, after a save, after a period:
"I'm lucky because I don't speak English."
He said that, of course, in English.
