This is my 32nd year teaching. I taught through zoom and then hybrid . These students are on a whole new level of hyper. They cannot sit still or stop talking. Driving my ADHD mind crazy!

Yes!! Our teacher shortage is bad enough that punishing people for going into teaching after years of paying into SS it’s just tragic. I paid in for 17 years, but because I’m a teacher now, I’ll lose 60% of what’s due to me and 0% of my spouse if he dies

I'm on the Greyhound bus and we've pulled over in Ohio. Border patrol (CBP) is asking each person on our bus if they're citizens. They are checking passports in their computer system - not any of the White people's. They pulled two people off the bus. This feels really fucked up.

Please do! I’m very close to retirement and yes, I’ll get my teacher’s pension & I’m very grateful. However, to afford being a teacher I did many side jobs and summer jobs + I taught in WA for 5 years where I DID pay into SS. I’m just wanting what I paid in

It’s true! I paid into SS for well over 15 years, but, since I went into teaching in CA, I’ll only get 40% of what I’ve paid in. I’ll will need to work part time after I’ve retired from 35 years of teaching

#RepealWEPGPO “Substantial Earnings” We know about the 30 Year rule. It is DISCRIMINATORY! Everybody else (97%) only has to pay into SS for 10 YEARS (40 CREDITS) get their FULL SS. Ours (3%) is REDUCED/Eliminated by WEP/GPO! #RepealWEPGPO HR82 S597

@JohnCornyn Please right this wrong. I worked for 20+ years where I paid into social security. However , since I’m a teacher, I’ll only get 40% of what I’m owed. My fellow teachers who are married will get ZERO % of their spouse’s SS if they pass away.

I agree. Did you know that if a teacher is married and their non- teacher spouse dies, that teacher does NOT get their spouse’s social security spousal benefits… no matter how long that spouse worked or how much $$ they paid in.

Yes, please! I paid into SS for 17 years outside of teaching in CA. Now I will get less than 1/2 what I paid in starting way back in 1978. My fellow teacher will get zero of her husband’s SS if he dies
