My employer is infatuated with genAI. I’m in a big meeting about it right now. Execs want it. Their justification - they didn’t have to hire artists to make a video. So I spoke up about the legal/ethical issues, but was brushed off. I’m angry.

I pointed out the datasets are built on mass theft of copyrighted works, with no consent or compensation to the artists and authors, and I’m ethically against using genAI. I might not have a job much longer. Lol

Reading between the lines of what I was told my first day and again after the AI meeting, yeah I’d say so. A part of the reason,at least. I was contracted through a casual labour hire so not much legally I can do about it unfortunately.
