    In 2010, Nintendo promoted Donkey Kong Country Returns by recreating DK's banana hoard, dumping one-and-a-half stories of bananas on Circular Quay in Sydney, Australia. Fans were encouraged to take as many home as they could carry, with the rest donated to OzHarvest.

    In 2003, Nintendo erected a 3D billboard in Toronto's Yonge-Dundas Square to promote the GBA remake of Donkey Kong Country. However, the composition of the ads made it appear that noted beer snob Donkey Kong was peering out over the city for something other than Labatt Blue.

    Ice sculptures of Diddy, Donkey, and Dixie Kong displayed at the Nintendo World Store (now Nintendo NY) to promote Tropical Freeze in February 2014. The one time they commission statues of Diddy and Dixie and they do it with a substance that will self-destruct in hours!
