Tweeting through the hazy brain fog of Severe Long Covid. (Chronically ill alter-ego of @thephysicsgirl)

- First birthday in 3 years I’ve been healthy enough to celebrate. 🎊 Now if only I weren’t 3 years older…
- I have been getting better btw. Very very very slowly. And mostly cognitive improvements. Hardly any physical. But I’m crashing less often and most importantly, I’m not getting worse. 😌
- I spent 1.5 years completely bedridden. I couldn’t talk. I couldn’t listen to anything, even ambient sound. Or look at anything. I wore dark glasses. Now I can watch TV, embroider, talk to friends and walk a bit. Some amt of recovery is possible, even from a very severe state.
- This is me—before and after becoming bed bound with Long COVID and ME/CFS. Two years ago, I made videos on YouTube. I ran half-marathons. I traveled. I lived fully. Then my body collapsed. I lost my energy, my independence, and my ability to connect. I lost my life. This illness
- Today I stood up on my own, holding my own weight. I felt heavy as hell and I was so unbalanced. But it was an amazing 30 seconds. 🥹
- I can’t bring myself to change my profile pic to what I look like now. I just don’t feel like it’s me. Like I’m still living in an impostor’s body.
- I walked 400 steps today. Slowly, with a cane. No chest pain. No dizziness. Now to wait and see whether the PEM claims its victim… #LongCovid
- Got some mitochondrial tests back. Basically, my body’s ability to use oxygen to create ATP is f’d. This means I’m in anaerobic respiration almost immediately upon light exercise (ie moving lol). And whats causing this problem? Who knows!!
- Long COVID has taken more than just my hair. Nearly 3 years of my life, my ability to walk, go outside, make videos, surf, visit friends, so many things that made my life as happy as it was. And there are millions suffering like I am. #LongCovidAwarenessDay
- Has anyone compiled a list of all the organ systems we have evidence that COVID damages? I’m essentially looking for something to give my (evidence curious) friends to tell them why it’s SO crucial to avoid getting COVID.
