Ok so I just got off the phone with the recruiter. Its an over-winter contract at the actual south pole station. Skeleton crew of 42 people for 8 months feb-October. 6 months total darkness. More people have climbed Everest than have done this.

There is a 16% incentive for it bringing weekly pay to just over 2k so I wouldnt say a “shitload” of money but your housing, food, and extreme cold weather gear all paid for.
