Those of you who don't know what authoritarianism looks like...this is it. All the gaslighting about previous presidents "what about...!!! Is bullshit. I've been talking about the slide towards NOW for 30+ years. Those earlier concerns were nothing. Now we are HERE.

- Anyone who thinks presidents were supposed to rule by Fiat (executive orders, posts on their social media account proclaiming things etc) needs to retake their government courses from high school. Congress is the lawmaking branch. It would be nice if Congress itself recalled that.
- Replying to @dccommonsenseAnd this isn't partisan...this is "the time for choosing".Do you support the Constitutional Republic? Or this ONE PERSON. This one, malformed, narcissistic, completely non-empathetic (except for himself) version of an American wanna-be Mussolini...because that's what this guy is.
- The stuff in the White House today between Trump and Zelinski and Vance is the weirdest thing I've ever seen in American politics. I don't even know how to process it. "Bullying" seems a weird adjective to use when talking about a president...but that's what it was.
- Replying to @dccommonsenseGaslight yourself till you're blue in the face...I'm a person who knows his history...we've never had anything like this and this is EXACTLY what the Founders worried about. It's been a multi-decade slide to get here-but we're HERE.Everyone who is honest with themselves knows it.
- Replying to @dccommonsenseAnd here's the rub: if you don't see it, it's either because you are so blinded by your own partisanship, brainwashing or sunk cognitive dissonance costs or it's because things what you wanted all along. #unamerican
- Replying to @dccommonsenseYou can say "well other presidents did this or that" but none have come close to doing ALL this. You take the most extreme things previous presidents have done (the single most) and Trump combines those most extreme single things into his long list of most extreme things.
- THIS. Those that know and understand this have been squawking for a while now. The people who live in countries that have already had this happen to them have spoken. I realize many don't trust experts. So they trust…what? They trust those who tell them what they want to hear.Historians and scholars of authoritarianism and fascism have been sounding the alarms consistently. It's not coming, it's not on the horizon, it's here. Right now.
- The short term nature of our thinking is breathtaking. Watching Trump fans denouncing the judicial branch and somehow not connecting this branch to protecting THEM from potential fanatics on the other side is to see our species' shortcomings on spotlighted display.
- So "mad dog Mattis"(hate that nickname by the way) goes anti -trump and once again the most hardcore of his supporters---TURN ON MATTIS. Do you folks understand your guy is a wealthy deferrment dude who would likely sell out his comrades in combat if you bent his fingers back?
- What is amazing is how those who support this would be losing their minds if the other party's leadership was doing the same thing. Imagine the furor! We are hypocrites.Donald Trump is deploying unmarked federal police, decked out like a paramilitary force, to grab Americans off the streets. He’s not protecting liberty; he’s practicing tyranny.
- Where is the legislative branch hiding? I see a few here or there...be nice if we saw a few more. They've been kinda MIA for decades now. It would be a nice time to remember they are a "co-equal" Branch of govt.
- I'm just warning you all right now...the chances that I'll want to discuss what we dealt with in the current show on twitter are small indeed. It may be the worst political/current events discussion platform ever invented.
- Also seems like a good time for pro-liberty people to recognize that concentrated power is inherently dangerous, and that's what's being threatened now. We do not have a king...and we don't want one. Time to be consistent.
