Stop what you're doing and behold the glory of my niece Zazie Davitt, the first addition to our Davitt clan in 35 years. Her parents let me hold her for about two hours and it was great. Life is good

Some general thoughts on the euros, and the ballot specifically. Is it time we examined just how easy it is to get on the European ballot, with an electorate of over 700,000?

    AND RODERIC O'GORMAN IS ELECTED!!!!!!!! #DubW @greenparty_ie

Due to overwhelming public demand (@EoinKeane101), have done up a spreadsheet with all the latest from the #GreenParty #pfg vote

Unfortunately after 18 counts, @GraceOSllvn has narrowly lost out on retaining her seat in #IrelandSouth. After 4 years with her in the #Seanad and another in her EP office, I can say with pride that she's been one of the most passionate, dedicated + effective of Ireland's MEPs

So sad to hear that @LNBDublin is not going to make it back to the European Parliament - she was a relentless campaigner and legislator for the environment who struggled constantly to get more coverage for the actual work done there. Really sad loss but I know she'll be back

    Replying to @gaywonk
That’s a deeply unhealthy level of obsession on his part. The pretending to not know your name is particularly telling. All that’s no use to you of course, I’m sorry this is a consequence of your really excellent work. I think you’re the best thing on here, stay strong x

Eamon Ryan has taken @greenparty_ie from 0 TDs, 0 MEPs +3 councillors, to first party to return to the Dáil, best ever EU+general+local results ever, and possibly into government to actually try deliver on our promises. I will never understand those that consider him a liability

The absolute staggering state of the Irish left sometimes. Closest thing the Irish state has ever had to a wealth tax, and almost every part of the left are against it. This is not normal.
You're not a socialist or a Republican if you support a Property Tax. Sin é.

The Green result is excellent, but even we have had problems electing women - 43% of our candidates, but only 2 successful. Labour has had even less success, with no women elected. We're slipping back instead of pressing ahead, and we need to consider why #GE2020

Bit of personal news - will (sadly) be leaving #Brussels+5 years with @GraceOSllvn to take up new temp role with @greenparty_ie in Leinster House in September, to help parliamentary party achieve the most we can over the coming years. Sad to leave but looking forward to challenge

Green team here in Cork are devastated to hear @ciarancuffe has lost out narrowly in #Dublin. He's been the very model of what an MEP should be - dedicated, focused, effective and principled. He delivered real change and actual #ClimateAction over the last 5 years

Eurostat have some interesting new experimental data from their joint analysis of the household budget survey & SILC (link tiny.cc/vo4ikz). A chart below, on direct & indirect tax as a % of gross household income across a number of EU countries. Ireland a standout.
