I'd like to reveal that RT64, the path tracer behind sm64rt, is evolving into an N64 emulator plugin. Here's a small reel of footage I've captured from games that are already showing results. Ray traced lighting, object motion blur, widescreen, DLSS and 60+ FPS.

Playing Mario 64 with only the vertex colors feels like I'm about to release the hottest indie puzzle platformer of 2020.

I'm trying to implement the N64 fog feature and I accidentally made Peach's castle way scarier.

My friend Wiseguy's been working in secret for a year on a tool to make PC ports of N64 games without complete decompilations. The result doesn't include assets and only requires a ROM to play. He's managed to run games like Banjo-Kazooie, Rocket Robot and even Superman 64.

Ocarina of Time's pause screen will take longer to show up if you're looking at some bushes instead of a wall.

Next-gen developers: Raytracing hardware is so great, we can finally do accurate reflections on water puddles and car windows! Me: raytraced metal mario motherfuckers

On another note, @FanamelT was kind enough to give me a WIP version of their Metal Mario render stage recreation, which will be an excellent stage for testing out any future optimizations.

This absolutely insane mod is completely real and you can do most glitches you can think of in any stage for Generations.

Wiseguy just published the 1.1.0 update for Recomp. It includes a fix for scaling the motion blur effect properly in high framerates and a dual analogue "free" camera!
