I'm eating Haitian food by a woman who owns a cafe in Crown Heights you'd miss if you walk too fast. I visit her every time I'm home. We're catching up for an hour. Just us. Talking about adventures & self-trust... When she goes, "Lemme go deposit money. Watch my shop."

Guys. I was walking on the street, minding my business, when this old Black woman in a wheelchair strolling behind me goes, β€œBaby. If you don’t move them beautiful wide hips out my way—”

Seeing Angela Davis truly out here, once again, as a teacher/organizer/active participant in the movement alongside two generations after her own is glorious. She’s walking beside, not above, us. I love it so much.
