I hate this a lot. This sport has left minor leaguers no choice but to be Uber drivers and fedex drivers and pizza delivery men. It’s despicable enough, but to shame them for it? New Yorkers reinforcing the worst New Yorker stereotypes, I guess.
Yankees fans chant "Uber" at Twins pitcher Randy Dobnak. Dobnak was an Uber driver in the minor leagues as a way to make some extra money.

.@ARizzo44, you provided this fanbase with what we want out of sports: excellence, idols, champions, legends. Your generosity with your spotlight helped so many. And, personally, you helped my son fall in love with my favorite game. You are the Greatest Cub of my life. Thank you.

.@javy23baez just when I thought I knew this sport, you flipped it on us, did things out there we didn’t know were possible. The magic was how you turned us into kids again. A generation of Chicagoans will live on impersonating you; is there a better legacy for a Cub? Thank you.

Can I say something mildly controversial? If Cubs miss the playoffs, it does not mean the window is closed. It means this was a tortured season, it means some retooling needs to happen, it means the pieces didn’t work. It doesn’t mean 2020 and 2021 can’t be fun and good.

How perfect is it that the 4 people in this picture have all played for exactly one organization? Talk about 4 different player types and development paths. Pretty darn cool. #thatscub @Beanz_TD @kschwarb12 @javy23baez (Pic by @MBDChicago)

In his time with the Chicago Cubs, Kyle Schwarber ADDED 12.8 runs of defensive value, according to Ultimate Zone Rating. That's something I want you to know about Kyle Schwarber.

Justin Steele’s last 54 outings, dating back to his last start of June in 2022, a span of 106 weeks: 314 IP 277 H 2.69 ERA 75 BB 322 K What an absolute capital-a Ace.

Cam Smith of course has star upside. But his overwhelming success this fall has oversold the likelihood of him reaching it. He’s a prospect. And Tucker is a star. This is the way.

My core Cubs belief, which is under fire this winter, is you can win a World Series with your lineup starting this way: Rizz / Nick / Kris / Kyle / Willy / Javy. Sorry if this offends.

Congrats to Tigers fans, you guys will soon be in on the secret: fandom’s more fun with Javy Báez.

Below is the link to my final post at BN. I tried to write some substantive words about where the Cubs are at, though I think it was prbly more my attempt at coming to terms with walking away. If you read a word I wrote these last 5 seasons: thank you.

I would just like to say that I will, some day, be in Wrigley when Kyle Hendricks has his induction ceremony into the Cubs Hall of Fame. And I’ll be loud.
