One fine day, people with symptoms of #MECFS will walk into a doctor's office and can expect to be diagnosed & subgrouped according to biomarkers. They will receive treatment, & they will be met with respect. Patients who have been harmed will largely become a story of the past.

So what's the problem? Here's the problem: Patient: I can't exert without getting really sick and it's not subtle. It happens immediately or in a time-delayed manner. It's objectifiable and measurable. Neurologist: Have you tried exerting more? #MECFS

The continuing worsening of my health & other unavoidable issues surrounding my care make it impossible for me to keep up with X. For me, this is a definite goodbye from this platform. The account will remain online, my family or caregivers might write a post here or there.

I'm sure some people fake illness, but for every one who does, there are probably 100 others who pretend to be healthier than they are. People do this both to appear strong and 'worthy' to the their community, as well as to reassure themselves that they will be okay. #MECFS

There are many cruel diseases, but there is something uniquely disturbing about going for a walk in the park or doing some light exercise with the intention of getting better, only to find yourself unable to get out of bed again just 24h later and possibly never again. #MECFS

I have very severe #MECFS. First, I ran when I shouldn't have. Then, I walked when I shouldn't have. I worked when I shouldn't have. I sat with friends and watched TV when I shouldn't have. I read and studied when I shouldn't have. I am still tweeting, but probably shouldn't.

I think it is fair to say, almost three years later, that #SARSCoV2 and #longcovid did not bring about a paradigm shift in how society and medicine look at #mecfs and post-viral disease. If a worldwide pandemic can't provide the impetus necessary, what does?

ME/CFS might be the deadliest “non-fatal” disease there is. Most of the people with my level of severity I had short exchanges with over the last decade are gone now. There’s so much more wrong with this than I can put into words.

I was a very optimistic mild & moderate #MECFS patient. I tried to maintain normalcy in my life. I am now a very severe ME/CFS patient. Be honest with yourself and your body’s limitations. Nobody is going to lie on that mattress for you. Invest your energy wisely.

My father, baker Gerhard Ströck, told me that yesterday at Leban Inn in Kittsee (his birthplace), 84 year-old master baker Johann Potz approached him & handed over an envelope saying 'for your boys', generously contributing to #MECFS research & @weandmecfs. We are deeply moved.
