My views ≠ RTÉ’s views
- Balakliya is pronounced almost exactly like Baile Átha Cliath. Confusing times for whoever woke up with a hangover this afternoon & heard on @RTERnaG that Ukraine had retaken it from the Russians.
- I am now regretting breaking news of #Opheila school closures. No basis now for bedtime exhortations. I am in a parenting status red zone.
- Volunteer directing people at the local vaccination & testing centre clearly a Monty Python fan. “Crucifixion?”, he inquired.
- I am still genuinely mystified as to when euroscepticism evolved from being ‘I like the single market but not political integration’ to an absolutist position that rejects the UK being touched by even sub-homeopathic trace elements of EU influence.

- One of Ireland’s most experienced sports administrators Bernard O’Byrne told @morningireland he is “astonished” #Cheltenham went ahead this year & that he asked relatives traveling to the event “are you crazy?”
- This piece by Derek Scally could have been written in so many ways, a lot of them bad. He strikes a great balance in writing very sensitively about a vulnerable person and the ethical considerations facing journalists who do so. Great piece of journalism. irishtimes.com/news/world/eur…
