- Roy Coopers decision not to let parents watch their kids play in 60,000 seat stadiums is maybe the dumbest thing I’ve seen a politician do. Literally could give a mom and a dad an entire section at Dowdy- ficklen, Carter-Finley, Kenan or any of them. Baffling. Playing politics.
- Woke up at 2 AM worried about Special Teams substitutions. When you realize that I lost sleep over whether or not a 15 year old remembers he's on the punt block team.....youve kinda lost your mind.
- Turf field plug......Walking at lunch and there were six classes using our stadium field. Band, Dance, and four PE/Weightlifting classes. It isnt just about football....its a first class EDUCATIONAL investment. Our school system has proven it.
- The best football player I ever recruited was a 1a HS quarterback on a 1-10 team. He became a d2 all American and a five year NFL vet as a Wide Receiver. It’s convienient to recruit big metro areas, but good players are everywhere if you look hard enough.
- To the coach struggling with a culture shift....365 days ago I wondered if we were doing things right. Love them, keep them accountable, lift weights, and just keep working. It doesn’t change over night. Win every day. Then you’ll win on Friday nights.
- NC HS Football Coaches need to unite on this....If @NC_Governor allows college football to be played ....then you better allow high school football to be played. Please dont give me the colleges can test argument. I coached at Gardner-Webb (a college football program in NC)
- Coaching a High School Routes on Air Period during spring ball is the equivalent of a HS math teacher teaching AP Calculus to seniors and Freshmen Algebra at the same time!!!!
- You can recruit all the talent you want. You can win the social media game. You can be the cool school. But if you don’t foster, cultivate, and develop toughness at the line of scrimmage and play solid defense you simply can’t be good at football. Many programs just don’t get it
- Twitter thought of the day…You don’t pay coaches with adulation or money. You pay them with infrastructure…..facilities, hiring, class load, ect. No other extra curricular at the school touches 120 students and is examined by every one in the community the way football is.
- Best fans in America! D2 in name only ….come play in front of lots of people!
- Injuries at an all time high this spring season. The NCHSAA CANNOT close the weightrooms this summer. Make all of JUNE dead for skill development but strength and conditioning is CRITICAL. Football coaches cannot be silent on this.
- We played High School football last night!
- I have no words to express the brokenness that exist right now to our staff, our players, and Johnnie's family. All I'll say is this is the worst day of my life. Praying for a miracle. #11.
