As a teacher, you’re sometimes privileged to witness life moments. I saw a girl approach a boy to ask if he wanted her number.
He paused, then pulled out his phone. Utter joy on the girl’s face.
I then confiscated the phone as it’s against rules to have it out in the corridor.
Literally nobody has shown up to my book event. Was worried that my ego and career aspirations were getting out of control, so this is a useful corrective.
Thank you SO MUCH for all the kind words. Overwhelmed.🥲As many of you've said, it's not the end of the world!
Bookshop & publisher worked hard to push event - I blame the sunshine!
My wife says I've got to post links, so: amzn.eu/d/1WTtLBR and uk.bookshop.org/p/books/how-to…
My new kids’ book HOW TO STOP THE END OF THE WORLD is out tomorrow. I can’t rely on Twitter’s algorithm to spread the word, so any retweets are gratefully received. Thanks!
You won’t find it on any ‘best of the year’ lists. It hasn’t sold loads. But a kid told me last week that it had got him ‘back into reading’ and I almost cried.
People who don’t live in London/the SE often refuse to believe this but … there are loads of parakeets living in the wild down here. And their screeching is extremely annoying.
Just did a book event. To an audience of … ONE.
Beginning to wonder whether the universe wants me to quit writing and focus on, say, becoming a TV chef. 😭
