Unbelievably saddened and shocked to hear about @slimanjbensmaia 's passing away. I was just talking to him last week... My deepest condolences to his family, students, and loved ones.
A milestone for the lab, today. The FDA has granted us approval to test our pattern of intermittent, cholinergic Deep Brain Stimulation, in human patients. It has been a privilege to be part of a wonderful team in this voyage. Next stop, IRB approval!
We are thrilled to welcome Prof. Christos Constantinidis to the Vanderbilt BME faculty, starting Jan. 1, 2021! Dr. Constantinidis is a world class neuroengineer who will also be a member of the @VanderbiltBrain and @VUMCeye research center.

First article published since the lab moved to Vanderbilt! Nucleus Basalis stimulation improves working memory by stabilizing neural activity in the prefrontal cortex! (1/10)
Today is my 35th day as faculty at Vanderbilt. My animal protocol has been approved. Primate cages have been bought and moved in. Animals have arrived. I am thoroughly impressed with how @VanderbiltU is getting things done.
I'm incredibly honored to be named a Stevenson Endowed Chair. I'm very grateful to the leadership of the Vanderbilt Schools of Engineering and Arts & Sciences for their support, and to all of my trainees and lab members whose work this honor recognizes as much as mine.
Congrats to these distinguished engineering faculty members!
