    and the Rio Grande Valley has its first ever softball state champion: the Weslaco High Panthers. Weslaco scored 8 runs in the bottom of the 7th to win the Class 6A state title 11-9. what a performance to bring state gold back to the 956. #RGVSoftball

    football is officially over in the RGV. people can continue doubting Valley teams, but I see the talent, hard work & dedication these kids & coaches put into the game everyday, so I’ll proudly continue to shine a light on the RGV from Roma to Brownsville, because they deserve it.

    How big is UTRGV’s baseball game tonight against No. 6 Texas? after storms overnight and rain this morning, UTRGV brought in a helicopter to help dry the field of UTRGV Baseball Stadium before gametime.

    McHi alum & Texas closer Aaron Nixon @Anixon42 entering the game in the 9th vs UTRGV. Fans were chanting “We want Nixon” for two innings. Texas coach David Pierce: “The kids a legend around here. We knew that, but we didn’t realize he was going to get a big league closer entry.”

    and we got Sharyland High vs Sharyland Pioneer in the the 5A Region IV Final. The RGV is guaranteed one team in the state tournament for the first time since Harlingen South in 2007. shoutout to @PioneerDbacks and @SharyBaseball putting RGV baseball on the map. #RGVBaseball
