Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador just gave a nearly 30-minute long answer to a question at the trilateral news conference, while Biden and Trudeau basically stared at their shoes

Convoyers have put up a tent at the war memorial now. Police on site trying to negotiate its removal. A resident walks by with his dog, angrily asks one officer why they haven’t taken it down yet: “This isn’t a campground”

Very audible booing of the US national anthem at the Ottawa Senators arena tonight, ahead of their game with Minnesota

I still can’t quite believe that police board meeting today. Asked multiple times what the plan is for the extremely well-organized group operating with impunity in Canada’s capital, the police chief’s answer was: “Well, society has to solve it.” I’m only barely paraphrasing.

Farewell to the Confederation Park Shack. It’s been loaded onto a truck.

Ottawa Citizen reporter gets parking ticket while covering the semi-truck blockade of downtown Ottawa
Good to know ⁦@ottawacity⁩ is still handing out parking tickets. I did deserve it, staying 3 hours in a 2-hour zone while covering the 5th day of the protest convoy.

    Replying to @btaplatt
The consistent pattern over the past 3 weeks has been that every time police give the convoyers an inch, they take a mile. And park semis on it.

I’ve been told by finance officials the Emergencies Act banking measures do not apply retroactively. Only activities after the regs were published on Tuesday, Feb 15 are subject to the bank measures. So either there’s been a mistake, or there’s more to this case.
Briane is a single mom from Chilliwack working a minimum wage job. She gave $50 to the convoy when it was 100% legal. She hasn’t participated in any other way. Her bank account has now been frozen. This is who Justin Trudeau is actually targeting with his Emergencies Act orders.

I've walked around a lot today, and so far the injunction against air horns has been stunningly successful. Just one guy outside Parliament occasionally blasting his; otherwise, it's dead silent. I find it baffling the city hasn't been in court from the start seeking injunctions.

Haven’t seen this many American flags in downtown Ottawa since the convoy was here

Bill Morneau, Trudeau’s finance minister from 2015-2020, slammed the capital gains tax raise today. “This was very clearly something that while I was there, we resisted. We resisted it for a very specific reason: concerned about the growth of the country.”

Carney often talks about the crises he's managed in his career, but he's now facing the greatest battle of all: trying to control his facial expressions in front of the camera while Trump talks

Just took a walk through the parliamentary precinct, and safe to say tonight's protest has fizzled. On Rideau a few people are still yelling mean things at police for their livestreams, but the crowd is already sparse and thinning out.
