You have to be a 'person' to have civil rights. Slaves couldn't go to court until 1865. Native Americans couldn't go to court until 1879 when my relative Standing Bear was illegally arrested by the United States Army and sued for his civil rights due him as a 'person' and won.

Native Americans didn’t simply “lose” land, it was stolen from. Important distinction.
This is a map that shows the land loss of Native Americans in the United States

No, white people from Spain did.

Happy Indigenous Peoples Day! Just a reminder that Native Americans are not a historical people, that we are still here, and that the biggest injustice in U.S. history—the dispossession of land from Indigenous nations largely by fraudulent treaties—remains ongoing

Grieving great grandfather asks police in Uvalde why they didn’t do anything to help his great granddaughter who was murdered. A random White man tells him to stop living in the past. So on brand.

I love seeing modern Indigenous art because it is creative and also a reminder to others that we are still here today!

For Thanksgiving, remember that the main contribution Native Americans made to the United States isn’t corn or this day, but every last acre of land. The dispossession of Native nations of all that land which started back with the “Pilgrims” never stopped and remains ongoing

I once walked into city court and saw a homeless man in shackles called to the bench to face the charge of allegedly stealing $1.61 from QuikTrip (the price of a drink). That happens here daily off national news. Nobody cares. Until that matters, I can feel nothing for these guys
Another American tourist has been arrested in Turks and Caicos after ammunition was found in his luggage. The 30-year-old Virginia man is one of at least four American tourists potentially facing a lengthy prison sentence under a strict new island law.

It is an iron clad rule of life that whenever a violent White man mass murders his entire family, there will be stories humanizing him as a “goofy” fun loving dad, and not one of the worst men on the planet, which he was, at all times. His rage and depravity define him. Trash!

In 1829, some white families asked John Brown to help them remove Native Americans from the area. Brown replied, “I will have nothing to do with so mean an act. I would sooner take my gun and help drive you out of the country”

Happy Indigenous Peoples Day! I think it is very important to get the day name right because Native Americans are still here and we are more than Columbus, medieval White people, genocide, and death—thousands of rich, uniquely American cultures that never went anywhere!

All those people alongside the police chastising him with “sir, this isn’t the right way” are just as pathetic. Who are they to tell him how to express himself? He should have hit that White man who told him to stop living in the past right between the eyes. I would have.

Yeah, um, the sight of a foreign Catholic missionary who is White riding into an Indigenous community on horseback to round up all the little Native American children has never been a “majestic” one, nor will it ever be. This scene has ruined millions of lives over the centuries
Some of these photographs of Pope Leo XIV are majestic

Good for Turks and Caicos. They passed laws they think are best for them and that means they really dont want guns and ammo in their nation. They’re clearly sick of foreigners bringing it in. It’s their fault for not knowing their laws before going abroad
