The Church needs songs both ABOUT and TO the Lord. Generally, songs sung ABOUT the Lord help keep us rooted in unchanging biblical truths. Songs sung TO the Lord help keep those truths from becoming emotionally dry doctrine.

"Do not be anxious." - Jesus Why? 1. It bears no good fruit. 2. It bears bad fruit. 3. It questions God's sovereignty. 4. It questions God's wisdom. 5. It questions God's goodness. 6. Because the one who said it solved our greatest problem at the cross.

    Replying to @ArmenThomassian
Armen, the 36 songs we sang at the conference were of differing vibes, reflecting the diversity in the Psalms (e.g., 18, 23, 46, 84, 139, 144) and messages. But I appreciate you getting Jesus Thank You in front of over 500k people. I could never do that!

Tomorrow morning, people will walk into our church gatherings battling sin, suffering, self-sufficiency, and self-deception. Let's make sure our songs and words point them to the finished work of Christ, our only hope in the fight.

Cannot wait to hear hundreds of voices belting out God’s praises in a few hours in the new meeting place of Sovereign Grace Church of Louisville. Ten years in and we finally have a building. The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad. (Psalm 126:3)

If you lead worship in song, your people's greatest need is not to remember what they think and feel about God., but to remember what God thinks and feels about them, and most importantly what he’s done for them in Jesus Christ.

Worship leaders, if you're wondering whether you'll be able to lead your people into God's presence tomorrow morning, relax. Jesus has already done what we could never do. Our task is to remember and rejoice! (Heb. 10:19-22)

People have asked if during the COVID-19 crisis they can live stream our songs without a license. We are happy to give you permission! Just include the copyright info for each song. And keep making much of Jesus!

Don’t expect music, creative lighting, and cultural relevance to do what only preaching Christ crucified can do. #SundayAM

Corporate worship is God's people, gathering in God's presence to receive God's Word, revel in the gospel of Christ, and respond in the power of God's Spirit, anticipating and testifying that the Savior who came to redeem a bride and will come again to live with her forever.

When a church is known more for its good music than its faithful preaching & holiness the trajectory isn't a good one.

Want to train young worship leaders and musicians? Here's a 12 part video course, based on my book, Worship Matters, with outlines and discussion questions. Did I mention it's free? ow.ly/BnW030kawrL

When we're waiting for a pandemic to end, it's helpful to remember that waiting isn’t a time to grumble, but a fresh opportunity to remember God will not restrain his mercy from us (Psalm 40:11).

My prayer for churches tomorrow morning, including my own, is that the beauty people see in our singing, playing, and production is far exceeded by the beauty they see in the Savior who took on our sin and flesh to save us.
