I understand that the legal process necessary to terminate Angel Hernandez would be painful, but at this point I think it needs to be said that MLB is disrespecting the fans by not doing it. No one SEEMS to be doing anything about a situation that is an ongoing embarrassment.

About a week ago I suffered a stroke. I am more or less OK. I am not in ANY pain. I can walk normally and take care of myself, but my right hand is messed up and interferes with my ability to do things like tweet. Thank you all for your support.

Fans of a .500 team overreact to every win and loss. A good team, you know you can't win them all; a 100-loss team, you get used to it. A .500 team, emotionally you're as good as the last 24 hours.

I don't know about anybody else, but I'm rooting for Altuve to hit .370 this year. I still love the little guy. RT if you're with me.

If you can't appreciate Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds, man, you just don't like baseball.

There were 6 boys in my 7th-grade class, one of whom was Danny Peterson. Nicest kid you ever knew. He won the Medal of Honor, died in Vietnam in 1970. The highway that runs past our little town has been named in his honor. It's not enough, but there's not much else you can do.

There is a basket of baseball gloves in the entryway. For many years my son and I played catch on the sidewalk every day, weather and time permitting. My son went to college 16 years ago. I walk by that basket every day, and I always smile. But it is a lonely smile.

I'd like to nominate Angel Hernandez to be the next Speaker of the House. Just anything to get him off the baseball field. . . .

Do people really understand that the Red Sox have essentially been without their first baseman, second baseman and shortstop for the entire season, and yet are still in there fighting for a wild card?

The reason we haven't had a 2-way player like Shohei in 100 years is that b ball professionals were 100% convinced that it couldn't be done, and wouldn't allow anybody to try it. The question is, has Shohei forced a crack in the armor big enough to allow other players to try it?

I usually root for the A's when they're in Post Season, just because it is their turn to have some good luck there. This series rooting for Houston, because I think their treatment by many has been . . .not necessary.

The Red Sox roster looks pretty well set going into spring training. They just need to find the right people to fill in the last 17 or 18 roster spots.

Anybody else old enough to remember when major league teams would play a mid-season exhibition game against their AAA affiliate?

Believing that the average baseball player today is better than Babe Ruth is like believing that the average college student today is smarter than Aristotle.
