I have been working on The Almighty Dollar, a 500-year history of the world's most powerful money, for seven years. It changed the way I thought about money. It will be available on May 19th. People who have read it seem to like it. penguinrandomhouse.com/books/634502/t…

Wife: How's the article going? Me: I'm at the point where I don't know how I'm going to finish it, I'm angry at myself for having agreed to write it, and I'm not even sure I should have become a journalist. Wife: So you're almost done then.

If it's a zero-tolerance policy, why aren't we arresting everyone who employs undocumented workers?

I don't understand the idea that athletes can't complain about anything because they're personally successful. Do you guys watch finance television? Billionaires come on Bloomberg and CNBC to complain about things almost literally every day.

Guys: this is not a normal refloating. You don't lighten the load and wait for high tide. The bow bulb of that boat has inserted itself into Egypt. They need to remove the Egypt from around and under the boat. There needs to be considerably less Egypt for this boat to go away.

They can't refloat it because it's not aground. It's beached. It's not on the sand under the water. It's in the sand next to the water.

My son wanted a video game, but didn't know exactly what it was called. Searching on Amazon was a nightmare, so we went to a store in the mall. Found a guy there who was incredibly helpful. Seriously: it seems like a good store.

Some personal news: in September I start a PhD in history at Princeton, focusing on the history of money. When I come to regret this choice, I will blame most of all @sethrockman, who introduced me last year to a bunch of historians who seemed fun at the time.

Ok. Ok. If you'd said I could have hung out with SRK at Davos, I would have accepted your invitation.
Goodbye Davos. Thanks Prof. & Mrs. Schwab for the Crystal award. To all wonderful people at Davos for being so gracious and lovely.
