My last day as General Manager of #cartoonnetworkstudios from opening it’s doors in 2000 to “The End” (#flapjack)2021. So honored to work with so many talented creators over the years. So much history. I’ll be posting photos from across the years soon. Thank you #CartoonNetwork

While we were making THE POWERPUFF GIRLS movie (2002), this piece was done revealing Ms. Bellum’s face. I had it hanging in my office for years with this post it over it. The mystery!

True story! In the season 2 episode “Dexter and Computress Get Mandark!" (1998) Genndy received an audio cassette of a young man telling his own DEXTER episode idea. Genndy loved the imaginative charm and we used it as the track for this episode in a childlike design style.

The idea behind the clapboard was meant to symbolize a “working” studio. This was also the reason for the roughs. We wanted the viewer to see what was behind the animation. Also, to show this was more than a studio (by just showing a cold logo) it was the shows. As time went on,

VARIETY: “Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network Studios and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe. Those three LABELS will continue to exist, but development and main production teams for Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios will now merge.” RIP CNS

Warner Bros has released a peek at the “new” CNS logo. Made me laugh when I saw it. I spent 20 years making sure our logo was never inverted in colors. In fact I once rejected 300 jackets that were printed “wrong”. Here WB made a choice to flop it…to make it feel new? 🤷‍♂️

Someone posted this…the problem is — we didn’t open the studio until 2000…

We didn’t produce EEE at the studio, but this spot from 1999 is a good example of how different the marketing was on CN vs NICK. Nothing about this screams KIDS as Nick did. Also, this spot actually aired on Nick as ad buy from CN. There was a time when we’d advertise on Nick and

Sadly, this building will no longer be CNS. From what I’ve been told, everyone will be out by August 1. All moving together in a WB building as one animation unit. Farewell CNS as it was.

OVER THE GARDEN WALL premiered 10 years ago today. Here’s the original promo. At that time there was a negotiation going on with a cable provider that actually prevented the series from being seen in many homes. It took another month before it was widely broadcast. Also, here’s a

Creator self model sheets from 2000. SHEEP had just premiered. PPG & EEE were in production and on air. I don’t believe Genndy or John D ever did one. I like how everything about these reflect the man behind them.

This was the first animated end logo we created for the studio in 2001. It became the template for all shows. We kept this “slate” (open/close) logo, for 20 years. It was always something creators looked forward to doing with their characters
