I'm so excited to start an another amazing opportunity:
I'm joining @NY1 as an on air political reporter in September, taking over the state house beat: covering @GovKathyHochul, the state legislature & @NYCMayor's inroads into Albany.
.@ZohranKMamdani visits vets at the Volunteers of America Commonwealth Veterans’ Residence. Speaking about the government shutdown, SNAP benefits & some vets admitted they didn’t vote for him & gave some advice —>
.@NYGovCuomo is having his 89-year old mother and two daughters to Albany for Thanksgiving.
“The story is, my mom is going to come up and two of my girls. But the plans change."
He has spent the better half of two weeks telling New Yorkers to stay home for the holiday.
.@ZohranKMamdani riding the A train from 181st to 207th meets a man who helped get him on the ballot.
“Mamdani for my daddy and my mommy,” he jokes about possible campaign slogans.
Daniel Fernandez wasn’t able to vote in the mayoral election - he says he liked Andrew Cuomo at first but after meeting Mamdani, he’s now rooting for him.
An emotional @ZohranKMamdani addressing antisemitism accusations in wake of @HolocaustMuseum response to his controversial comments explaining what “Globalize the intifada” means—which is largely associated w stoking violence against Jews.
Says he’s also been subject to hate.
.@ZohranKMamdani responding to @Tom_Suozzi accusing him of corrupting the Democratic brand:
“I have yet to meet a New Yorker who has asked me about the opinions of Tom Suozzi.”
On @ericadamsfornyc possibly working at HUD, adds it’s not about the job it’s about the intent.
.@bradlander comes on stage to huge cheers.
“I want to speak to you as a Jewish New Yorker, because this race, especially in the last few days, has seen outrageous Islamophobia.”
“It's gross and we won't stand for it.”
.@NYCMayor compliments @ZohranKMamdani — while dissing @andrewcuomo & the rest of the mayoral field — he says “Mamdani has always been Mamdani” & while he disagrees with a majority of positions, at “least he believes in something !”
NEWS: @GovKathyHochul right now is a no on @ZohranKMamdani’s free bus promise.
“I cannot set forth a plan right now that takes money out of a system that relies on the fares of the busses and the subways.”
She’s then pressed on “Tax the Rich” chants:
"You pick the 26,000 people who will die because YOU only sent 400 ventilators," @NYGovCuomo screams at the federal government (presumably watching this press conference).
He needs 30,000 ventilators.
.@KathyHochul almost got booed off stage to chants of “TAX THE RICH”—& forced @ZohranKMamdani on stage early to calm the crowd.
During her speech, largely critical of DC, intermittent heckling culminated.
Then Mamdani came out, grabbed her hand, raised it & walked her out.
