2022 has been a pretty rough year career-wise so far. Receiving five nominations for a teaching award makes the outlook a lot better. Grateful to the students who took the time to nominate me and write appraisals 🙏 @ucddublin @EconomicsUCD

I use this graph to talk about manipulation in RDDs, also to illustrate that "manipulation" need not be malicious; it's just that people respond to incentives (in that case some intrinsic gain from finishing below a certain time).

#EconTwitter I’m trying to organize “research speed dating” online, where people are repeatedly randomly matched for 10min talks about research. Has anyone set up sth similar before? If so, on what platform?

Very proud of this publication. The inflow of 8 million expelled Germans in West Germany changed policy priorities. More about the paper in the thread by @NPestel83 👇
Many years of work and painstaking digitization of historical data have finally paid off: Our "expellees paper" is now finally forthcoming in @JEEA_News! Fantastic collaboration w/ Arnaud Chevalier, @ben_elsner and Andreas Lichter, which started out at @iza_bonn. Summary🧵1/11
