- Replying to @bayer_juliaWe were able to verify and locate two of the “re-education camps” (1+2) mentioned in the #KarakaxList. And we also located two other camps (3+4), using satellite images and governmental documents, including tender bids and financial plans.
- The leaked #KarakaxList mentions at least 4 “re-education camps” that Uighur detainees were sent to in #Xinjiang. - Replying to @bayer_juliaInside the industrial park we found both a “re-education camp” and a detention centre. The latter has visible security features like watchtowers and wire fences. Both are surrounded by what are most likely factories and also a police station. #KarakaxList

As noted in the #ChinaCables, these are typical security features of “re-education camps” in Xinjiang. However, in 2019, the fences and watchtowers were removed- unclear why. #KarakaxList
