- Sending much love and gratitude to those who are working around the clock to get us all back with power and water 🤘 Our team is working to open the restaurant as soon as possible - stay tuned!
- We've been keeping an eye on the weather all night. We're currently working on 5 outages. We know it's only going to get colder & more dangerous for people who have to be out. As our crews work, please slow down or move over to give them the space they need to safely work.
- ⚠️Rotating outages are starting! ⚠️ ERCOT has declared an Energy Emergency Alert (EEA) Level 3. Austin Energy, along with utilities across the state, have been instructed to begin rotating outages because there is not enough power available to keep up with consumer demand.
- 🔊CUSTOMER BILLING UPDATE: Reports regarding potential bill spikes for non-Austin Energy customers are circulating and we want to make sure our customers have the most accurate information. Our rates are fixed and must be authorized by Austin City Council. (1/4)
- WATCH: Crews climbing a tree to cut off the limbs sitting on top of power lines. This is why the restoration process can take a long time. 📍This is off Spanish Oak Trail in the Mount Bonnell area. The terrain makes it difficult to make repairs!
00:00 - Buzz off, 🦟! Anderson HS student Aseel Rawashdeh discovered a cheap way to kill mosquito larvae & won Best of Texas in Physical Sciences, the top award at the Texas Science & Engineering Fair. Her research netted Aseel an $80,000 prize, which she'll use for college. WTG, Aseel!
- (5 a.m.): Extreme weather is leading to power outages in our service area. Our main concern: ice! We are prepared & have dispatched crews to restore power. Icy conditions may slow this work. Thanks for your patience as our crews work as quickly and safely as possible.
00:00 - EMERGENCY OUTAGE UPDATE at 7 p.m.: As the situation allows, we're working to restore customers who have been impacted by the statewide outages the longest. (1/3)
- ❗NEW OVERNIGHT❗: We've been able to bring more people back online as additional generation becomes available across the statewide grid. As of Thursday, 7 a.m.: ~81,000 customers are without power from the peak of ~220,000 earlier this week. (1/5)
- (7:45 a.m.) We worked throughout the night to restore power to an additional 31,585 customers, for a total of 172,339 customers restored since the beginning of the ice storm. (1/2)
- Replying to @austinenergy⚡Unfortunately, ERCOT is ordering us to shed more load tonight as demand on the grid increases, and those restored customers may again lose power. We are frustrated but we are working to meet our obligations to maintain the state's electrical grid. (2/3)
- EMERGENCY OUTAGE UPDATE at 1:15 p.m.: 🔊ERCOT has given Austin Energy permission to restore some customers! What you need to know: ⚡We've been able to restore 16 circuits across our service area. ⚡We are prioritizing customers who have been without power the longest. (1/4)
- ❄️COLD LOAD PICKUP❄️ We need your help with this! If you've been without power and it comes back on, please DO NOT turn everything back on. When the circuit is restored + power is returned to your 🏘️, if the demand for energy is high on that circuit, it can cause it to trip.1/2
