‘Living with Covid' without an adequate response leads to widespread unfairness to the old, the poor, and the ill. We need more resolute action to reduce the burden. * Vaccines * Ventilation * Air filtration * Masks @isagcovid19 (via @IrishTimes)

An odd comparison between a man who stood, at great personal risk, for the human rights of Black Americans, and one who objected to a vaccine. I see no equivalency here...

One of the greatest radio interviews I've ever heard from @SarahAMcInerney on @drivetimerte just now with Eoghan Harris. This is a masterclass in interviewing, in doing the research, and in providing adequate lengths of rope. Really brilliant journalism and compelling radio!

Exactly twenty years ago, at about this time, I was admitted to @SVUHLiverUnit for my first liver transplant. Remembering my donors and their families this evening. My family and I owe them everything.

Here are my latest predictions. If this is right, we have turned a corner. To learn more - follow this thread. Note that 300 to 400 cases a day is still really bad - it generates five deaths, and fifteen ICU admissions every day. Keep on strictly isolating!

#ReasonsToBeGrateful I'm still here, after carcinoid, 5 transplants, sepsis, major haemorrhage, and hepatic artery thrombosis Without the generosity of my donors' families, the care of @SVUHLiverUnit , and the love and support of my own family, I wouldn't be Thank you all!

There is NO reason why Irish hospitals can't do this, but despite very high costs, they don't. The Spanish systems are designed to work for patients, ours is not (yet). This is not beyond fixing, but there is *still* no plan to do so. (Slaintecare is not such a plan) /End

Masks are low impact & cheap. They reduce transmission of #COVID19 Today case rates are uncertain, but high. Deaths are up. NPHET's advice is contrary to the science, and to good public health practice Will the Government tell us the expected cost of this decision? @ISAGCOVID19

Just heard that a gaelschoil in Ashbourne is closing. Board have decided to shut as they can get no contact from @hselive How many other schools have closed?

I reaaly hope no-one got infected at the conference The advice is pretty much what you'd expect, and omits the point that COVID is still filling hospital beds, and killing people every day. But, apparently, no advice on avoiding infection. @ISAGCOVID19

This is dangerously wrong, and no-one should believe it. Schools can only reopen safely if we sharply reduce the number of cases in the country.

I think this is a mistake, and I fear it's yet another half-measure in our response to #COVID19

Martin, please read something, anything, about the history of infectious disease *before* you press Send? Potential carriers have very frequently been blamed, attacked, locked up, and even killed. Things are much better now.
