- treat our domestic workers (from neighbouring ASEAN!) like shit - banned protests and free speech - one party government - gaslights citizens when they bring up racism - obnoxious “first world” behaviour seeing anything non-chi/white as beneath them - cleaned not clean country

- rare to find bidet in public toilets - solves problems by slapping fines and arresting activists - celebrates racial harmony day HAHA - food mostly copy from malaysia what the hell is chilli crab - sgeans only travel to japan - or malaysia (then say cheap cheap)

when i travel (not japan) sometimes i say i’m malaysian to skip the judgement (which i dont blame people for) and get away with it except when i meet actual malaysians / indonesians

its incredible how a minister representing a gov refusing to enact sanctions or sever diplomatic ties to prevent genocide came out and likened whats happening in Palestine to a “family quarrel” given more than 37000 Palestinians have been murdered within the last 9 months

Malays can’t relate but that Singaporean culture could be pervasive. My wedding seems to be one of the last few void deck weddings. Many younger Malay couples are turning towards hotels and it seems that having guests co-fund the wedding might be the best way they can afford it.

not enough people know that hard work does not make you more money. what makes you earn more than others is your connections, social identity/privilege, and your cunning to know and manipulate the system to serve you. it’s kind of evil.

only when my social circle became predominantly the majority race (cos of work) did i discover that “dating up” is the default. i remember collective horror when someone asked me what was my then-date’s profession and i said “idk idc” cos it’s the first thing im supposed to ask

With the wedding 6 days away, I still can’t reconcile the lingering resentment I have against everyone who could never be this happy for me if I were in a queer rship with the happiness I feel being with this wonderful person who happens to fit in their narrow box of acceptance

I find that in our (Malay) culture, we focus more on getting married and living with the consequences of your choice of partner, rather than how to recognise what you need and don’t want in a partner, and how to be the right partner for someone.

I have a question, do we find out that the men are like this after marriage or before? Are the women not noticing the red flags out of ignorance or just really not caring? Do we, as a culture actually have the difficult conversation of duties before the marriage itself?
