hey cool review 😎 thanks, yueran!
Though it's often said that the history of capitalism is Eurocentric, few have attempted to rewrite it from a non-Eurocentric perspective. Historian Andrew B. Liu rises to the challenge with "Tea War: A History of Capitalism in China and India." jacobinmag.com/2021/01/tea-wa…

Estimates of the death toll during the Chinese Army's crackdown on the protests in Tiananmen Square vary significantly but are of at least several hundred. As of now there are no reports of any deaths during the dispersal of the Colombia University protesters. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989_Tian…

the newspaper of choice for marxist graduate students everywhere 👍
It's amazing how the Financial Times is now significantly to the left of The New York Times and The New Yorker. The latter continue to beat the drum about how the stupidity and racism of the poors is the problem, while the FT keeps saying...it's the political economy, stupid!

has felt this way on and off since bernie's iowa near-win in 2016. feels truer than ever today. the dem center is unbelievably weak and unpopular bc they transparently stand for nothing
Zohran’s victory is an earthquake. The left everywhere must dedicate itself to an insurgency against Dem incumbents. The Dem establishment has lost credibility w/ its base in the face of fascist threat. The base is looking leftward for new leadership. We are the opposition party.

yalebooks.yale.edu/book/978030024… My book was just published. It's about the tea trade but also about: China, India, labor, ideology, and writing capitalism's history in Asia and the postcolonial world. I'll be posting some more about it soon - since there are no Steph Curry games rn.

im sorry this is an ass-backward reading -- marx challenged the idea that jewish people are separated from christians on theological/idealist grounds. in practical civil-society they are like everyone else: governed by self-interest and worshipping $$. it's a universalist essay!
Marx’s anti-Semitism is quite clearly connected to his anti-capitalism

i think you guard luka with nemanjia bjelica -- body him on the perimeter and whisper cold war-era curse words mutually intelligible between serbian and slovenian into his ear, the game within the game

Wrote about Jason Kelly and Isabella Weber's @IsabellaMWeber new books on CCP economics and capitalist experiments during the Mao era + 1980s reform. Also, thoughts on 'neoliberalism studies' and the place of China + others outside the North Atlantic!

Wrote about how we can think about Xinjiang without being useful idiots for the US nor the PRC. Refusing the nationalist blackmail (pro-US/anti-Ch + anti-US/pro-Ch) means examining links of global capital + global counterterrorism and, ofc, to 'always historicize!'
