- Clubhouse valuation doesn’t affect you. For A16Z, $10m is a rounding error if it doesn’t work; firm/reputation defining if it does. I’m excited that: - There’s innovation in consumer apps - The founders have access to funds to go big, if they want Great for tech & free markets
- We've added some really great partners along our journey to build forever games. It's a privilege to be able to collaborate with so many incredible people. I have a habit of being early to things, so we're really just getting started.
- Fortnite is a massive, new consumer social network amongst the youth with 350m+ users. Epic is valued at $15b+ It was: - Made by teams not in SV or LA - Developed by vets, not just ppl in early 20s Innovative, big social apps can come from anywhere. Don’t sell yourself short!
- A lot of useful conversation, healthy venting & necessary criticism in the @PirateNation ecosystem over the last few days. I wanted to address some of the questions and reiterate our focus areas in the coming days/weeks. To be clear, we are a hybrid team of OG game devs, veteran
- 1/ My cofounders & I just launched rarebits.io, a zero-fee peer-to-peer marketplace for crypto goods & non-fungible tokens (NFTs), think @CryptoKitties. Blockchain cats may seem like toys but actually fundamentally change the relationship users have with virtual goods
- We announced a big set of changes last week saying we're no longer condoning multi-accounting and are going to incentivize players using a single account to play. I wanted to add a bit of context on how we got here: Pirate Nation is currently the largest fully onchain game. This
- We’re making bold moves at PoP. On Monday, we announced the end of P2E PIRATE emissions. Today we’re announcing the acquisition of a Mindshare Lead to help us tell the next chapter of the Proof of Play story. Bringing on ico is a big step towards a much greater scalingGm friends I’ve breadcrumbed everyone long enough - it’s time. Beyond excited to finally announce that I’ve joined Proof of Play as their Mindshare Lead (totally not made up, extremely serious job title). I’ve been friendly with PoP for quite a while, and I can only describe
- Proof of Play and the Pirate Nation Foundation value the $PIRATE token. In alignment with that belief, we're done giving tokens away to parties that have no alignment with our long-term success. P2E (& Play-and-Earn, etc.) is fundamentally broken. Our announcement today,Infinite Tides Legendary Depths Season 3 is now LIVE! Load up the cannons and hoist the sails for a new Legendary Depths Season! A new terror awaits Pirates with enough mettle to last past 25 Waves 🐢👀 To prepare for the next stage of the Proof of Play ecosystem and maximize
- I was asked today if I still believe in Ethereum. @ProofOfPlay was started because of a belief in the world computer. It was magic to deploy and run my first contract in the "ether". There are, of course, tons of issues with the Ethereum ecosystem, but there's no replacement0. hello world computer, and welcome to the new Ethereum Foundation X account
- Spent the last few days exploring & meeting folks in Miami. Some observations. 🧵👇
- I have serious respect for any dev still making games that use any blockchain tech It's much harder than just building for mobile or vibe-coding with AI New onchain game designs are waiting to be discovered, and the current set of devs will uncover them through their hard work
- Tough day. Shutting down Pirate Nation was one of the hardest decisions we've had to make. We started Proof of Play to explore what fully onchain games could look like—games with permanence, community ownership, and new types of player experiences. Pirate Nation was our firstPirate Nation: The Next Chapter It’s been an extraordinarily busy time here at Proof of Play. For the last few years we’ve shipped hundreds of weekly updates and proved our tech in Pirate Nation. Our team has grown and evolved, added an entirely new line of business with vRNG
