Today the Alarm Phone turns 11 years old. Since we started in Oct. 2014, we assisted over 10.000 boats in distress, trying to accompany them on their journeys to Europe. Also in the years to come, we’ll keep struggling with people on the move & for the freedom of movement of all!

According to the people, there are 20 women & 27 children on board & they have been in the water for more than 7 hours. They say a vessel with the number 1411 is nearby. Water is entering the boat & some of them do not wear life-vests. We ask competent authorities to rescue them!

🚩Alarm Phone Statement on the fatal shipwreck off #Greece. Stop blaming people on the move for trying to escape your violence! Stop blaming people on the move for their own death! Stop pushbacks, end death at sea, tear down Europe’s borders!

Easter Monday. A mother tells us her 7-year-old daughter needs help & that 5 people are unconscious on the boat in distress. Which EU-leader has the courage to call this mother & explain to her that she and her child have to die because their lives are not worth saving?

This is happening NOW at Europe’s borders! Masked men attack people in distress in Greek waters, making waves before leaving again. Listen to their voices: ‘we will die’, ‘mama, mama’. Shame on Europe! Stop the violence! Rescue now! @HCoastGuard @UNHCRGreece @EU_Commission

⚫ Siamo scioccate.
🆘! 47 lives at risk in the Central Med! Alarm Phone is contact with 47 people in a boat adrift who fled from #Libya. Weather is extremely dangerous and immediate rescue is needed!!

At 9:11 CEST we were contacted by a boat in distress in #Greek waters near Lesvos. There are 67 people incl. women and 27 children. The people say their engine is destroyed and the boat is adrift. We alerted the Greek Coast Guard @HCoastGuard to ask for immediate rescue.

BREAKING: #TALIA52 disembark! Finally, after days kept in inhumane conditions on a livestock carrier off Malta's coast, the people who called us when in distress at sea are allowed to reach land in Europe! We thank the #TALIAcrew for their humanity, solidarity and endurance! 🧡

BREAKING: SHIPWRECK OFF LIBYA FEARED! Several sources speak of a shipwreck with dozens of ~65 people on board dying. We called for rescue but all authorities rejected responsibility. Europe, this is the result of your policies - another mass murder at sea.

🆘Alarm Phone is in contact with a boat in international waters carrying 104 people, that left Tobruk, #Libya, three days ago. We alerted authorities and nearby cargo ships but - once again - no help is coming. Water is entering the boat due to high waves. #DontLetThemDrown

⚫️Sadly, we can now confirm that the 20 people whose death was reported by @MSF_Sea were on a boat that had called us. We lost contact to them but repeatedly requested a search and rescue operation by EU authorities. In vain. They decided to let them drown. Our hearts are broken.

Yesterday, we were alerted by a boat in distress in the Greek SAR zone. It had left from #Libya. According to the people, there were 750 people on board. Authorities were alerted. Contact was lost shortly after midnight. We now hear reports of a shipwreck and fear they are true.

Four days ago, we emailed #Greek authorities and Frontex, alerting about 750 people on a boat in distress near Kalamata. Nobody intervened and the boat capsized. Four days ago, approx 750 people were still alive. Join us when we protest the systematic border killings:
