- 582 miles Berlin to Calais. 4 stops around 45 mins each time. 13 hours total. A pleasure doing the return leg of #octobahn with co-pilot @Zarch1972. Last bit into the UK to complete this evening.
- At the Wired:Octopus Energy Tech Summit yesterday we were showing we can get to net zero quicker when solar, home batteries, electric car charging, air source heat pumps are all connected and working with renewable generation. My brief demo here!
00:00 - Cologne. We’ve driven through Uk, France, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany today. Found the Buzz top speed (autobahn of course) is 149kmh.
- My personal motivation for our solar install was self-consumption. The excess export I see as a bonus so I'm happy to gift that to those that can benefit from it. We've therefore launched this octopus.energy/solar-sharing/
- Cadent eng visited (check no gas meter before disconnecting at street). Singing the praises of Hydrogen till he saw our ASHP and got his head round 350% plus efficiency. Also surprised how quiet it is too.
- We've just finished our feasibility study into using smart meters to report data and manage flexibility which relies on CPA security - more here: octopus.energy/blog/innovatio…. If we get the go ahead from BEIS we'll be creating and testing this from April.
00:00 - Useful day at Solar & Storage Live today. Particularly impressed at the bold decision not to carpet: 5 tonnes of carpet waste saved. 10 miles at 1 meter width.
- Strong wind doing its thing for the fourth day in a row tomorrow.
- £1.3m to £1.7m according to this holburnepark.co.uk/wp-content/upl…
- I’ve been working with @power_vault since my last trial with them a year ago on hot water. They’ve used our Agile API to control the battery and entered the FFR market - join their trial, and find out what FFR is, by reading more here octopus.energy/blog/agile-pow…
