Hello to new followers. Just wanted to say a few words about who I am and what I do. I'm an infectious disease epidemiologist. Most of my work has centered on the epidemiology & evolution of Staphylococcus aureus, esp in communities. /1

As an epidemiologist, it's really hard not to despair at videos and anecdotes like these.
Happy Mother’s Day from C& C in Castle Rock, where the owner said this is almost double a normal Mother’s Day.

Man, wait until antivax politicians find out about how R2-D2 and C-3PO tried to encourage vaccination... in 1978. Almost like this isn't a new thing and programs that cater to kids want to keep them safe and healthy.

43, a tenured full professor of epidemiology with 23 years of lab experience and almost 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters, I still get these comments. I'm no one's "sweetie."

Tara, by looking at your photo I can see you are pretty young. Sweetie have you truly looked at the other side of scientifically proven facts that what you are telling people is not true :( Question? Does the CDC, Pharmaceutical company,FDA,or media sign any of your checks, ?

A 5-year-old from her district just died of COVID.

For the thousandth time, it's not just mortality we need to be concerned about.

Strongly disagree with this article. Kids are definitely not "like your vaccinated grandparent." Here's why: a ragey thread.
"Although scientists don’t quite understand why, kids seem to be naturally protected. As a result, you can think of your son or daughter as an already vaccinated grandparent," @ProfEmilyOster writes: on.theatln.tc/0zOu1MG

Another day, another dude criticizing a woman for using her earned title. It's baffling as he's mostly criticizing honorary doctorates (hers is not), & bemoaning a loss of academic standards from his day (where he taught with only a BA degree). Also, "kiddo"? Fuck that noise.

Misinformation. The CDC does not decide which vaccines are mandatory for school attendance in kids. That's left to each state, which is why they are not uniform across the country.

Don't play "fuck around and find out" when the lead singer has a PhD in molecular biology and studied viruses.

This is a terrible idea. @SpeakerPelosi @DNC anyone else who will listen, please stop this shit and SHOW LEADERSHIP by doing all of these events over video like the rest of us are. It's not "safe"--it may be safe*r* but it's still terrible optics during a pandemic.

Update on cousin: was moved to another hospital last week. Two amputations b/c COVID clots: left foot, right leg sounds like up to mid-calf. She was unvaccinated and spent the last year posting that COVID was a hoax. I hate that so many are finding out the hard way it's not.
My hometown. Every bed is full. My cousin is either there or at a nearby hospital with COVID pneumonia (not sure which one she was taken to). No one is wearing masks, vaccine uptake is low and conspiracies abound. It didn't have to be like this.

Cool, cool. Sorry Texans, you're on your own.
